Hildigunnur H Thorsteinsson is the Managing Director for Research and Development at Reykjavik Energy a public utility company providing electricity, geothermal water for heating, and cold water for consumption and fire fighting. The service area extends to 20 communities, covering 67% of the Icelandic population. Prior to joining Reykjavik Energy she led the Hydrothermal and Resource Confirmation team at the United States Department of Energy‘s Geothermal Technologies Office and worked as a project manager and engineer for Iceland America Energy and Enex, a geothermal solution provider. She holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland and an M.Sc. in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
